BEAT Box Beam Bursting Energy-Absorbing Terminals
The BEAT and BEAT-MT have many interchangeable components. The BEAT is designed to attach directly to the end of standard 6″ x 6″ box beam barrier. The BEAT-MT is designed to attach directly to the end of standard 6″ x 8″ box beam barrier.
During end-on impacts, the vehicle forces the Impact Head of the BEAT into the end of the box beam section causing the tube to burst. This allows the errant vehicle to be safely decelerated.
